Hand-picked, whole-bunch pressed, wild yeast ferment in a 1200l foudre and stainless steel. Australian pinot gris seldom displays complexity, but here you have it. Aromas range through rose water and poached pears, grape skin and ginger, a similar suite of flavours present on the long and textured palate. Juicy, slightly astringent acidity completes the finish.
You heard it first from us back in 2012, Pinot Gris is officially ‘the next big thing’. Apparently there are now more Pinot Gris vines in Australia than there are Riesling vines and there are more Pinot Gris vines in Australia than in France! In France, Pinot Gris is grown in Alsace, in Australia it is grown everywhere. Region and climate are as important as winemaking style. Our Pinot Gris is all from cool climate vineyards yielding less than 2 tonne/acre.
