Rich nectarine and lime with flowers, oatmeal, sandalwood and spice – a musky exotic perfume – spent matchsticks cast aside. Full flavoured with gloss and savoury cashew richness, but tight limey acidity courses through its veins to thrilling effect, and the flint and quartz plays out on a superb long and gently honeyed finish. It responds beautifully to air, though it tastes so good it’s a battle keeping it in the glass long enough. What a wine!

The Fruit for the Allegra Chardonnay was sourced entirely from the historic Rebenberg Vineyard on Mount Duneed, an area first planted with vines in 1858. The premium fruit comes from over 35 year old vines yielding less than one tonne/acre, and was hand-picked at 13.2 Bé and pH 3.25. Fruit was whole bunch pressed and run into 100% new French oak puncheons (450-500L) without prior clarification. Fermentation occurred with indigenous yeast. Following the end of fermentation, malolactic fermentation occurred in barrel with natural yeasts. Wines were left in barrel on gross lees for a further 15 months prior to marriage and bottling. Extended bottle maturation of this wine will allow the tight complex character of this wine to develop.

An elegant wine, the 2013 Allegra shows minerality and a delicate acid drive from a cool vintage. Fine acidity and complex spice on the nose, this Chardonnay is clearly built to last. The oak is well integrated and the fruit encompasses the complex structure making this a wine that is a delicious drink now, but one that we can’t wait to see in a few more years.

Fresh nectarine, ginger spice and a touch of cream wound together with zesty
acidity. This Chardonnay should develop over the next 5-10 years in the cellar, retaining acidity and the fruit flavours developing into grilled
nuts and baked nectarines.

The fruit for this wine comes from the Suma Park Vineyard on the Bellarine Peninsula yielding one tonne/acre. The hand-picked fruit was whole bunch pressed into 100% new French oak puncheons for fermentation and MLF by indigenous yeast on full solids. The wine components were then matured in 30% new French oak barrels on gross lees for a further 11 months prior to blending and bottling.

Hand-picked, whole-bunch pressed, wild yeast ferment in a 1200l foudre and stainless steel. Australian pinot gris seldom displays complexity, but here you have it. Aromas range through rose water and poached pears, grape skin and ginger, a similar suite of flavours present on the long and textured palate. Juicy, slightly astringent acidity completes the finish.

You heard it first from us back in 2012, Pinot Gris is officially ‘the next big thing’. Apparently there are now more Pinot Gris vines in Australia than there are Riesling vines and there are more Pinot Gris vines in Australia than in France! In France, Pinot Gris is grown in Alsace, in Australia it is grown everywhere. Region and climate are as important as winemaking style. Our Pinot Gris is all from cool climate vineyards yielding less than 2 tonne/acre. It’s an out-and-out ripper. Smoky, bunchy, well-fruited, dense, finessed, so many things. Powerful lines delivered with grace. It’s excellent throughout
but the finish has that extra something.

Sourced from four single vineyards in Geelong, two in the Moorabool Valley (Hillside Haven & Springbank) and two from the Bellarine (Hat Rock &
Suma Park). All fruit was hand-picked and fermented separately to keep the individual vineyard characters distinct. Each parcel was treated the same; wild yeast fermented with around 40% whole bunches. The wine was then matured
for 10 months in 40% new French oak barriques. After rigorous tastings we blended the wines to create this wonderful Pinot Noir in the Lethbridge style.

The third vintage of Lethbridge Nebbiolo, this is an evolution of style. The skin contact has been pulled back to 30 days (compared to 100 days in 2014) The result is a wine of finesse with powerful tannins, more floral fruit and a length that just keeps going.

The Story: “What does one buy for a husband of almost twenty years who, dare I say it, buys for himself whatever he wants!
Late in vintage 2013 the phone rang, it was Robert John from the Malakoff Vineyard who had heard about our penchant for unusual varieties enquiring as to whether we wanted any Viognier. We had made a pact ‘no small batches’ and so after declining the offer I was somehow possessed to ask whether he had any Nebbiolo. It was Rays birthday in May and what better present. A great Nebbiolo rivals Pinot Noir in its elusiveness and Ray loves nothing more than a challenge. Two tonne of Nebbiolo arrived, difficult to wrap, but has given Ray many hours of fun, an excuse to spend a fortune on Barolo and will provide much pleasure for years to come.
