Bryan Martin's winemaking is as refined as it is original, and this Nebbiolo is a wonderful example of what his colourful drops are all about.

This comes from the warm, dry 2021 vintage in the Hilltops region, and it looks fantastic. Bryan has uses his large-format Stockinger barrels for maturation, the bigger wood making a big difference in the final product. A sort of old-world meets new-world take on this iconic Italian variety.

It will be long-lived in the cellar and matches beautifully with a wide range of foods (Bryan suggests anything rich, rustic and gamey), but it's equally enjoyable to knock back now. If you're a Nebbiolo admirer then you'll love this, and if you're new to the variety then this is a quality place to start.

A new approach to production has seen this wine tucked away in 2800l foudre for 22 months. A timeless method for this variety that allows it to progress slowly without gathering layers of oak. A spice laden wine, juniper and black tea, cherry, a quite tight palate that has layers on fine tannin and persistent acid. Quite reserved at this stage. Built to cellar for 10-15 years as an estimate.

The Ravensworth Seven Months is one of Bryan Martin's favourite wines to make. Excitingly, this year, the 2019 release is all estate grown fruit from Bryan's own vineyard in Murrumbateman.

The classic three variety blend of Pinot Gris, Riesling, Gewurztraminer fermented on skins in ceramic egg for seven months (hence the name), with this extended skin contact adding all sorts of colour, texture and complexity.

This year's might be the best to date, a glorious mouthful of fruit that's slippery, grippy, textural and thought-provoking.

The Ravensworth Shiraz Viognier has become one of the most sought after wines in Canberra, owner/winemaker Bryan Martin now consistently producing a wine of glorious complexity from his home grown fruit.

Bryan's Shiraz is Northern Rhone Valley inspired, with a splash of co-fermented Viognier adding perfume and mouthfeel to what is a remarkable Shiraz. Given Bryan Martin's day-job as assistant winemaker at Clonakilla where he, alongside Tim Kirk, produces Australia's foremost Shiraz Viognier, it comes as no surprise to see this wine reach such great heights.

A very layered and textural wine, lots going on here: sMore viognier dominant this year, pear, quince and ginger but plenty of marsanne's ulgy and roussanne's beauty. There's a bit of chardonnay there too, like a teacher with a ruler making sure every behaves. A fine acid line underlies a fine yet rich palate with loads of flavour persisting.

Combination of whole bunch pressed fruit run straight to 600l Demi-muids and ceramic eggs with some skin contact and whole cluster ferments. Nine months on lees, no MLF, a little ceramic action too. Then transferred to 20hl Stockinger founder, with extra lees and left for another year
