The Story
Chris Catlow created Sentiō Wines in 2013 to showcase his passion for Chardonnay and its ability to show a unique place better than any other varietal.
Chris grew up in Beechworth and developed his passion for Chardonnay and winemaking working with Barry Morrey at Sorrenberg. He studied Viticulture & Wine Science and worked in the Mornington Peninsula with Kooyong, Paringa Estate and Portsea Estate. After several vintages in Burgundy with Benjamin Leroux that taught him wines are supposed to have character that is solely unique from others, Chris was convinced that a project based around site expression using Chardonnay was his focus.
The Approach
An expression of a single place is the most important aspect in winemaking for Chris. He is crafting three chardonnays from three different regions of Victoria following the same winemaking philosophy to translate site and regional characteristics to the glass. He also crafts Shiraz & Pinot Noir from Beechworth.
